When was the last time you felt truly curious about something? It’s a natural part of growing up to feel like we’ve “figured things out,” but that mindset can stifle the curiosity that keeps life interesting and fulfilling. Without it, our days can blur into routines, leaving us disconnected from the new ideas, experiences and people that make life vibrant. Cultivating curiosity isn’t just about indulging a whimsical desire to learn; it’s about keeping ourselves open, youthful and adaptable in an ever-changing world.
Before you can start to plan your success goals, there are many things that you need to understand before you can be sure that the goals you set are really the ones you want.
One of those things is to determine if there are any Limiting Beliefs that can stop you from actually achieving those goals.
I have a self-study Limiting Belief Program that you can go through to determine what your Limiting Beliefs are and how you can remove them.
You can read more and register for the program at Limiting Beliefs Program on my Confidence and Life Coaching website.

As adults, our curiosity can diminish for many reasons — confidence in our knowledge, lack of time or even fear of looking uninformed. But curiosity isn’t just for the young; it’s a muscle that can be strengthened, even in the busiest of lives. One of the simplest and most effective ways to reignite curiosity is to become a regular reader. While it may sound straightforward, the impact of reading is profound, offering not only entertainment but also new perspectives and insights.
The key to developing a reading habit lies in starting where you are. If you’re not an avid reader, don’t overwhelm yourself by setting unrealistic goals. Begin with one book a month. It doesn’t have to be a weighty nonfiction tome; even fiction can transport you into new worlds and spark your imagination. A compelling novel might introduce you to different cultures, unusual professions or historical events that ignite your interest in exploring these topics further. Short story collections, poetry or even well-crafted essays can serve as gateways into reading if longer books seem intimidating.
One of the great benefits of reading is its ability to build empathy and understanding. By immersing yourself in a story, you experience other lives and perspectives, which can fuel curiosity about how the world works or how others think and feel. For those who want to make learning part of their reading journey, books on unfamiliar topics can serve as an excellent starting point. Whether it’s a memoir of an astronaut, an exploration of quantum physics or a guide to urban gardening, a good book can open doors to areas of interest you never considered before.
Actionable Step:
Commit to reading one new book over the next month. Start with a topic or genre that genuinely excites you — something you’ve always been curious about but never pursued. Make reading part of your daily routine, even if it’s just ten minutes before bed or during your commute. Keep track of your thoughts in a journal or app, jotting down what resonates with you and any new questions that arise. This small step will make reading a habit and help you discover what sparks your curiosity most.
Reading offers more than just the thrill of a good story or the satisfaction of learning something new — it’s a gateway to self-discovery and a means of expanding our horizons. It teaches us to think critically, empathize and see the world with fresh eyes. The process of finding and reading books that intrigue you can, in itself, become an exercise in curiosity. From choosing a book to diving into its world, each step builds a deeper connection to the act of learning and exploring.
When you cultivate a habit of reading, you might also notice that it becomes easier to focus your curiosity in other areas of life. You start to ask more questions, engage more thoughtfully in conversations and notice patterns or ideas that once passed you by. These moments of curiosity create a domino effect, enriching not only your understanding of the world but also your relationships and personal growth.
Reading is a powerful tool for reigniting curiosity because it allows us to explore without leaving our homes and challenges our perspectives in ways we might never anticipate. By taking that first step to engage with the written word, you unlock a world of possibilities that can inspire, educate and keep life exciting. So pick up a book and let your curiosity lead the way — there’s no telling what you might discover.
