The Six-Step Guide to Crushing Your Goals

goals

Let’s talk about goals. We all have them, right? But how many of us actually reach them? We’ve all been there, scribbling down New Year’s resolutions, only to find them gathering dust come February. Sounds familiar? But what if I told you there’s a better way?

Confidence in your abilities to go after your goals can sometimes be difficult to find or keep.

It can sometimes take time to discover the confidence you have inside you. This can be especially true if you are trying something new.

I have a program that can help you to discover what is holding you back from achieving your goals as well as help you set an attainable goal related to where you are in your life and where you are trying to be.

This program also works with you to build up your confidence in being able to reach your goal.

You can find out more about this program at Confidology, a funny name but a serious program.

Let’s dive right in and explore six tried-and-true steps to help you conquer those elusive goals.

  1. Aim High, But Stay Grounded

Ever heard the saying, “Don’t bite off more than you can chew”? It’s spot on when it comes to setting goals. Sure, we’d all love to jet-set around the world or drop 50 pounds overnight, but let’s get real. Set goals that are challenging, but achievable. Instead of aiming to read War and Peace in a day, why not shoot for a chapter a night?

  1. Journey Before Destination

We’ve all heard the age-old adage, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” This couldn’t be truer when it comes to achieving goals. Instead of fixating on the end result, focus on the steps you’ll take to get there. Create a roadmap, set milestones, and don’t forget to celebrate your progress along the way.

  1. Keep Score

Ever run a race without a finish line? That’s what it feels like when you’re chasing a goal without tracking your progress. Use tools like calendars, journals, or apps to track your progress. Seeing how far you’ve come can be a powerful motivator to keep going.

  1. Don’t Go It Alone

No man is an island, and this holds true when it comes to achieving goals. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or lean on your support network. Remember, two heads are better than one!

  1. Stay Flexible

Life is unpredictable, and our goals should reflect that. Don’t be afraid to tweak your goals as circumstances change. After all, the only constant in life is change, right?

  1. Embrace Growth

Sometimes, we learn more from our failures than our successes. Even if you don’t reach your goal, you’ll grow from the experience. Remember, the real victory is in the journey, not the destination.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your goals by the horns and take control of your future. With these six steps, you’ll be well on your way to becoming the best version of yourself. Now, isn’t that a goal worth pursuing?

9 Things Mentally Strong People Do That Mentally Weak People Don’t

mentally strong

The Distinctive Traits of Mentally Resilient Individuals

The human species is diverse and can be categorized in numerous ways. One such categorization is based on mental strength. We all know people who are mentally strong, and those who are not. But have you ever contemplated the actual disparities between these two groups? The differences are tangible and significant.

Before you can start to plan your success goals, there are many things that you need to understand before you can be sure that the goals you set are really the ones you want.

One of those things is to determine if there are any Limiting Beliefs that can stop you from actually achieving those goals.

I have a self-study Limiting Belief Program that you can go through to determine what your Limiting Beliefs are and how you can remove them.

You can read more and register for the program at Limiting Beliefs Program on my Confidence and Life Coaching website.

Start your journey on your path to success by identifying and removing your Limiting Beliefs so that you make the journey a lot easier.

Mentally resilient individuals consistently exhibit certain behaviours that their less resilient counterparts often fail to demonstrate. This article will explore these behaviours and offer insights into how you can cultivate mental resilience.

Key Behaviours Exhibited by Mentally Resilient Individuals

  1. Initiation: Mentally resilient individuals excel at initiating tasks. They are assertive starters. Conversely, mentally fragile individuals often excel at planning but falter when it comes to taking the first step towards action.
  2. Completion: Initiating a task is only part of the challenge. Mentally resilient individuals are also adept at seeing tasks through to completion. If you find yourself consistently giving up before completing significant tasks, it could be an indication that you need to build mental resilience.
  3. Tackling Difficult Tasks: Success often requires undertaking challenging tasks. These tasks might necessitate multiple attempts, acquiring new knowledge, or stepping outside one’s comfort zone. Mentally fragile individuals often shirk from such tasks.
  4. Embracing Change: Mentally resilient individuals leverage change for growth and progress. In contrast, mentally fragile individuals either resist change or are paralyzed by it.
  5. Risk-Taking: Mentally resilient individuals are adept at striking a balance between taking calculated risks and avoiding reckless behaviour. Mentally fragile individuals, on the other hand, either succumb to impulsive tendencies and risk excessively or are overly cautious.
  6. Celebrating Others’ Success: Mentally resilient individuals are comfortable with, or even celebrate, the success of others. Conversely, mentally fragile individuals often harbour resentment or jealousy towards successful individuals.
  7. Perseverance: Mentally resilient individuals persist until they achieve their goals. Mentally fragile individuals, however, often give up too quickly and easily to achieve substantial success.
  8. Assertiveness: Mentally resilient individuals have the ability to assertively decline requests that divert them from their goals. They can say “no” without remorse or regret.
  9. Delayed Gratification: The most successful individuals can delay gratification for extended periods. The inability to delay gratification is a significant weakness. If you need immediate rewards, you may struggle to accomplish significant goals.

Mentally resilient individuals are more effective at overcoming obstacles, staying focused on their goals, and leveraging change to their advantage. They accomplish more and are generally more successful. In essence, they are willing to do what mentally fragile individuals are not.

Examine the list above and assess your mental resilience. You can develop mental toughness, and as your resilience improves, so will your life outcomes.

How To Set Smart Goals for The New Year

goals

Today, we’re going to talk about setting goals. Not just any goals though, we’re talking about SMART goals. You might be thinking, “What’s the big deal about SMART goals?”, they’re a game changer.

Confidence in your abilities to go after your goals can sometimes be difficult to find or keep.

What’s the SMART Formula?

SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. It’s not just a clever word, it’s a powerful tool that can help you turn your dreams into reality. When you set SMART goals, you’re setting yourself up for success. It’s like having a roadmap to your dreams.

The Key to Success: Goal Setting

Imagine you’re on a journey. You wouldn’t just start driving without knowing where you’re going, would you? Of course not! You need a destination. That’s what goals are – they’re your destination. And just like a journey, you’ve got short, medium, and long term goals. They’re your roadmap to success.

The SMART Way to Set Goals

Let’s break it down:

  1. Specific: Your goals need to be clear and well-defined. No wishy-washy “I want to lose weight” or “I want to be more flexible.” Instead, try “I want to lose 10 pounds” or “I want to touch my toes without bending my knees.” See the difference?
  2. Measurable: Can you track your progress? If not, it’s not a SMART goal. You need to be able to see how far you’ve come and how far you have left to go.
  3. Attainable: Is your goal within reach? If it’s not, you’re setting yourself up for failure. It’s like trying to jump to the moon – it’s just not going to happen. Your goals should challenge you, but they should also be achievable.
  4. Realistic: Are your goals in line with what you can realistically achieve? Losing 10 pounds in a week isn’t just unrealistic, it’s unhealthy. A SMART goal would be to lose 10 pounds in 90 days.
  5. Timely: Deadlines aren’t just for work, they’re for goals too. Without a timeframe, your goal is just a dream. But with a deadline, it becomes a plan.

The Bottom Line

SMART goals are the key to unlocking your potential. They’re your roadmap to success. By setting goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely, you’re setting yourself up for success. So, what are you waiting for? Start setting your SMART goals today and watch as you turn your dreams into reality. You deserve it!

Don’t try to do all of this by yourself, ask and receive the guidance that can get you moving towards your own success.

Nothing happens until action is taken.

To your success.

What Does Self-Acceptance Actually Mean

self-acceptance

Today, we’re going to delve into the world of self-acceptance and how it can be a game-changer for people like you. We’ll also explore some strategies that can help you reach new heights in your personal and professional life. The example used is about a mid-level executive but the information provided applies to everyone, in both their personal and business lives.

The Power of Self-Acceptance

Self-acceptance is like a hidden treasure, often overlooked but of immense value. It’s about acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses and saying, “Hey, I’m not perfect, and that’s okay.” Sounds simple, right? But in reality, it’s a tough nut to crack, especially in a world where we’re constantly bombarded with images of perfection.

Now, you might be thinking, “How does self-acceptance help me?” Let me tell you a story about John.

John was a mid-level executive at a top-tier company. He was smart, hardworking, and ambitious. But he was also his own worst critic. He’d beat himself up over every little mistake, constantly comparing himself to his peers. This self-criticism was like a dark cloud hanging over his head, affecting his performance and well-being.

After working with a Life Coach, John learned to accept himself, warts and all. He realized that his mistakes were opportunities for growth, not failures. This shift in mindset was transformative. He became more confident, his performance improved, and he was happier. And guess what? He was promoted to a senior executive role within a year.

Strategies for Harnessing Self-Acceptance

So, how can you, like John, harness the power of self-acceptance? Here are some strategies:

  1. Practice Self-Reflection: Take a step back and assess your strengths, weaknesses, and unique qualities. Self-reflection is like a mirror, reflecting who you truly are, not who you think you should be.
  2. Cultivate Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself when you stumble. Remember, you’re human, and humans make mistakes. It’s part of the package.
  3. Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to reach out to a mentor, coach, or even a trusted friend. They can provide a fresh perspective and help you navigate the path to self-acceptance.
  4. Set Realistic Goals: Aim for progress, not perfection. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
  5. Embrace Your Individuality: Don’t try to fit into a mould. Be yourself, because everyone else is already taken.

When you align your actions with your purpose, you’re not just going through the motions. You’re living authentically, and that’s when you can truly accept yourself.

Conclusion

In the grand scheme of things, self-acceptance isn’t just about feeling good about yourself. It’s about recognizing your worth, learning from your mistakes, and continuously striving for growth. It’s about becoming the best version of yourself, not just as an executive, but as a person.

So, are you ready to harness the power of self-acceptance and become the powerhouse executive you’re meant to be? Let’s embark on this journey together. Remember, the only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

6 Deep Questions to Help You Understand Why You’re Stuck

being stuck

Discovering the Roots of Your Stagnation

Feeling stuck is like being in a pitch-black pit. You’re yearning to scramble out, but there’s no sign of a rope or a ladder. Fear, anxiety, and confusion creep in, overwhelming you. The world keeps spinning, but you’re stuck in a standstill.

You’re aware you need to escape this rut, but the urge to maintain the status quo seems to have you in a vice-like grip.

But don’t worry Here are six thought-provoking questions to help you understand why you’re feeling stuck and how to break free:

Confidence in your abilities to go after your goals can sometimes be difficult to find or keep.

It can sometimes take time to discover the confidence you have inside you. This can be especially true if you are trying something new.

I have a program that can help you to discover what is holding you back from achieving your goals as well as help you set an attainable goal related to where you are in your life and where you are trying to be.

This program also works with you to build up your confidence in being able to reach your goal.

  1. Am I Setting the Bar Too High?

Take a step back and reassess your expectations. Nobody’s perfect, and expecting to be can set you up for disappointment. Comparing yourself to others or setting unrealistic expectations can rob you of your happiness, leaving you feeling inadequate and stuck in a rut.

  1. What Are My Goals?

Living aimlessly is a surefire way to feel stuck. Without a sense of direction, you’re bound to feel lost. But remember, when you’re at the bottom, the only way is up.

How do you get there? Try creating a vision board. Fill it with images and words that inspire you. Jot down your goals, big or small. This visual representation of your aspirations can make them feel more attainable.

  1. How Much Time Do I Dedicate to Self-Improvement?

Are you stuck because you’re not making an effort to expand your horizons? There’s always something new to learn. Think about how much time you spend scrolling through social media. Imagine if you used that time to read a book, learn a new skill, or pick up a hobby. Choose one thing to improve upon and stick with it. You’ll be amazed at the progress you make.

  1. Are My Friends Motivating Me?

The company we keep can significantly impact our lives. Expanding your social circle can open up new opportunities and perspectives. Look at your vision board and pick a goal. Try to connect with someone who shares that goal or can introduce you to others who do. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people can be a powerful motivator.

  1. How Willing Am I to Step Out of My Comfort Zone?

When was the last time you did something that excited you? Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders. We often feel stuck because we’re too comfortable with our current circumstances. So, shake things up a bit. Apply for that job, put yourself out there, or take that trip you’ve been dreaming of. If that’s not feasible, try something new or spontaneous. It can be a refreshing break from the monotony.

  1. Do I Show Gratitude for the Things I Enjoy?

Keeping a gratitude list can be incredibly beneficial. Jot down the things you’re thankful for, no matter how small. This practice can help you find the silver linings in your life, those tiny sparks of light that brighten up your darkest days.

You’re Not Stuck, You’re Just Preparing to Soar

Remember, feeling stuck doesn’t mean you are. You’re the master of your destiny. Take action, no matter how small, and you’ll see that you’re not stuck, you’re just preparing to soar.

Discover your true desires and start working towards them. The more you try, the more likely you’ll find your place in this world.

Remember, you’re not stuck; you’re just getting started!
