Believing in the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

“To shift your life in a desired direction, you must powerfully shift your subconscious.” ― Kevin Michel, Moving Through Parallel Worlds To Achieve Your Dreams

Your Subconscious Mind’s Power

optimismWhether you like it or not, your subconscious mind is the boss of you. Even when you make a conscious decision to go after something you want, it’s your subconscious that determines whether you’ll take consistent action to get it!

Once you understand how your subconscious works, you can be in touch with yourself on a deep level. You’ll have the keys to living an abundant, fulfilling life, and all you’ll need to do is unlock that door.

What is the Subconscious Mind?

Your mind is similar to an iceberg. The conscious mind is like the part of the iceberg that you can see above the surface. But the bulk of the mind – the subconscious – is below the surface where you can’t see.

There are certain thoughts and processes that go on inside your mind that you may not be aware of on a conscious level, such as beliefs, instincts, and memories. Everything you’ve ever seen or heard is sitting somewhere in your subconscious, affecting your current thoughts, decisions, and actions.

Communicating with the subconscious mind is a popular topic in the realms of self-help and psychoanalysis. This is because getting to the core of your beliefs by tapping into the subconscious is the fastest way to implement desired changes in your life.

The Power of Beliefs

Your subconscious mind contains a vast amount of information. It’s more than your conscious mind could ever handle. Sometimes you might just have a “feeling” about something and then find out that the “feeling” was right on target. In many cases, it’s your subconscious mind that sends you such signals.

Surely you’ve heard, “If you believe it, you can do it.” This truism is a fact because of the great power of your subconscious. A belief can light a fire under you and enable you to do things that you never consciously thought were possible.

This is why just believing in the power of the subconscious mind can allow you to better communicate with it.

The alternative is to continue following base instincts. Following your instincts can be a good thing, but what if one of your instincts is a fear of public places? It would be in your best interest to learn how to communicate with yourself.

Beyond Belief

Believing in the power of your subconscious is the first step to living the life you desire. When you do, you can move on with your self-help ventures and personal development plans. Surely you have talents you’d like to further develop, positive qualities you’d like to strengthen, and challenges you’d like to overcome. You can do all these things by tapping into your subconscious.

You can even use your communications with the subconscious mind to correct larger issues, like fears, or eliminate negative habits, like smoking or emotional eating. When you get to the core of an issue in your subconscious, you can change it. The possibilities are endless!

How Do You Communicate With Your Subconscious Mind?

There are several techniques you can use to effectively communicate with your subconscious mind and enable the changes you desire.

One popular method is the use of hypnosis. You can either employ the services of a counselor trained in hypnosis or use self-hypnosis techniques. You can even find CDs and videos that will guide you completely through a hypnosis session.

Under hypnosis, rather than being asleep, you’re in a state of heightened awareness. Many of the inhibitions of your conscious mind will subside while the subconscious comes to the forefront. When you’re in this state, you’re open to suggestions. If you give yourself positive suggestions, you’ll make positive progress.

You can also communicate with the subconscious by consistently reading, listening to recordings of positive mantras, and repeating affirmations. Not only can you use these positive statements to affirm and bring out the best in you, but you can also replace negative thinking and doubt with positive images and beliefs. Check your local bookstore and online for a plethora of affirmation resources.

Just remain aware of your innermost thoughts and you’ll be better able to keep in touch with your subconscious. Always be truthful with yourself, follow your heart, and most important of all, have a firm belief in yourself!

7 Strategies for Living a Conscious Life

“Anyone will be unhappy until he recognizes his true calling.” ~ Unknown

Live a Conscious Life

how well do you really know yourself?Would you like to get more out of your life? It’s never too late to make a new choice or reverse your life’s course. One way to live a more enriched life is to be conscious of what you’re doing at every moment. This way, you stay connected with your behavior and feelings.

Here’s an example situation: You’ve decided to stop eating potato chips and chocolate. You make a pledge to yourself to watch what you eat. But two hours later, you suddenly realize you’re sitting in front of the television, bag of potato chips in hand.

Now imagine the same scenario, yet this time you behave differently. You spend some time thinking about how to ensure you avoid potato chips and chocolate. You decide to take your junk food over to a friend’s house and leave it there. At dinner, you smile to yourself as you prepare to eat a salad and baked chicken because you plan to thoughtfully focus on eating healthy.

The second scenario demonstrates the concept of living a conscious life. Knowing what you want, choosing how you spend your time, and staying in touch with your feelings are indicators of a conscious life.

There are many techniques you can implement to help you purposely live the way you want to. When you live consciously, you’re no longer a victim of the wind, being blown about this way and that way by the circumstances of your life. You can create the life you desire with conscious living.

Try these ideas to get you started and inspire you on your journey:

  • 1. Create the life you want one step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
    • Spend some time exploring what you already love about your life. Also investigate what you’d like to change.
    • Then, think about how you can take deliberate steps to create the life you desire.
  • 2. Seek balance in your life. For example, if you disagree with someone, take time to consider the other person’s side of the argument.
    • Allow yourself to change your mind.
  • 3. Live in the present moment. You’ve most likely heard this suggestion before. But what does it really mean to live in the moment? Consider this example:
    • While you’re visiting your mother, think about her and enjoy your conversation and activities together. Avoid making your store list mentally or trying to recall what else you have to do today. Just stay in the present moment with your mother and focus on what the two of you are doing.
  • 4. Know yourself. Awareness of your likes and dislikes is important to conscious living.
    • Learn what’s important to you. Discover what makes you tick, what drives you, and what you find inspiring.
    • Self-understanding is an integral part of living life consciously because if you know your preferences and motivations, you can then create circumstances that will enable you to accomplish your goals.
  • 5. Live your own truth. As a teenager, you might have gravitated toward peers who didn’t judge you, which made you feel more comfortable. Perhaps, in actuality, you didn’t have all that much in common with them. As an adult, you can now stay more true to your own beliefs.
    • When you live your truth, you stay faithful to what’s genuinely important to you.
  • 6. Learn to let go of negativity and situations you can’t control.
    • Conserve your emotional energy for what you actually can change: yourself and your own life. Now that’s conscious living!
  • 7. Take action. Become interested and involved in the goals you’ve set. Put effort into achieving those objectives and you’ll be well on the road to living consciously.

Altering how you live your life can be an ongoing challenge. Selecting just one of the above ideas and putting it into practice will help you begin your journey toward conscious living. Living life consciously will bring you the healthier, more joyful existence that you deserve.

Self-confidence Secrets

“Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look.” ― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Secrets To Gaining Self-confidence

confident catWhen entering unfamiliar situations, most people feel a little bit shy. There are some people though that have such a low value of self-esteem that they cannot function when they are in strange or unfamiliar circumstances. They really need to work on their self-confidence levels so that they can move forward as well as explore other areas of interest in their lives. Here are some ideas that can help these people gain self-confidence. Pass them along to those people that could use them as well as using them yourself to boost your own self-confidence.

The first thing to do is to get to know yourself. Knowing your own strengths and weaknesses will help you to deal with other people effectively. When you know your positive strengths, you can connect with others socially a bit more easily. By discovering your strengths and using them, you can offer others more than just your good company.

You need to step outside of your comfort zone as well. Staying where we are most familiar is very comfortable. If you don’t push your limits, however you will stagnate and people may not want to be with you. Get out and meet new people and try new things. Join new groups and develop new skills. By doing these thing you will find that your confidence levels increase and you will also discover new ways to express yourself.

By completing the things on your “To do” list will help your confidence. Start with the simple things that are easy to complete. As you cross them off of you’re list you will realize that you are good and can accomplish things by yourself. You don’t have to rely on others which will move you out of their shadows and into the light. Finishing things by yourself will also help build up your reputation as a “doer” which will also boost your self-confidence.

You need to appreciate the person you are. Understand what makes you unique and figure out how to use these traits. Somethings that you may feel are annoying may actually be acceptable to some people. When you are confident with who you are and the skills that you have then you will be moving towards gaining the self-esteem that you have always desired. Use the traits and characteristics you have to your advantage.

Remember to love yourself, by doing that you can accept yourself and this will help you to build your self-confidence to new and higher levels.

Do You Have These 6 Limiting Beliefs?

You are essentially who you create yourself to be and all that occurs in your life is the result of your own making.” ― Stephen Richards, Think Your way to Success: Let Your Dreams Run Free

6 Limiting Beliefs That You Should Change Today

go do somethingWhen we are kids there is no such thing as a limiting belief. Everything is possible. There’s a fat guy that brings us presents once a year. There are superheros that fly around with capes fighting crime. And becoming a professional wrestler is a legitimate career option. But then something curious happens.

The world begins to tell us otherwise. Somewhere around 11 or 12 years old we begin to see the boxes shaping that society would like us to fit in. The fat man in the red suit is long gone. Superheros are now for kids. And wearing a suit and tie is suddenly a better option than the wrestling outfit. These boxes our so drilled into our culture that most of the time we forget to even ask if they’re real boxes or not. Are they there? Or are they made up by someone else? These boxes are limiting beliefs, and they don’t have to be your reality just because they are someone else’s. These are six limiting beliefs that you should change today.

[AMAZONPRODUCTS asin=”B00ZTR0TBE”]

I am not smart enough.

Yes you are. You’ve just had someone or something lead you to believe otherwise. Sure, we all have some sort of genetic level of intelligence that has been gifted to us. But that represents a very small margin of our overall intelligence. Being “smart” is a product of learning, studying and practicing a small handful of things, and becoming the best you can be at them. When you become really good at just a few things, you become incredibly valuable to a person or a company that needs those talents. You don’t have to be a genius. You just have to be the smartest guy or girl in the room at something. I’m too inexperienced.

So is everyone else. Some of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in the world are in their 20′s. They were young and ambitious enough to not care if they had experience or not. The only way you gain experience is to jump in with both feet, and being inexperienced is a blessing. You get to approach problems with a naive eye, which can lead to solutions that more experienced people wouldn’t have thought of. Own your inexperience, and know that creativity and hard work will make up for what you lack in years.

It’s too late for me.

Some of the most popular authors in history never wrote a novel until they were in their 60′s or older. Some of the most successful entrepreneurs never tasted success until they failed well into their 40′s or later. The only time it’s too late for you is when you’re six feet under. If you’re not there yet, it’s not too late. Start now.

I can’t be happy until…

You can’t be happy until you stop thinking like this, and just choose to be happy. If you allow your happiness to depend on an object or a person, you are letting something outside of your control dictate your happiness. Take that control back. You will wake up happy every single day when you wake up grateful for what you do have, instead of wanting something more. It is a choice. Choose happiness.

This is who I am.

This is who you are…this very second. Who you are a minute, a day, a year from now has yet to be decided. We are evolving beings, constantly being shaped by our experiences, our knowledge (see point #1), the people around us, and our approach to growth. Who I am today is very different from who I was a year ago, and dramatically different from who I was 10 years ago. Much like happiness, you can choose to allow your life and experiences to wash over your, leaving you much the same. Or you can choose to allow them to shape you, to drive you into the next and better version of yourself.

I’m too busy.

I’m too busy…to workout…to start my side business…to give my time…to be a parent. No excuse in the world has been used more than “I’m too busy” and it’s the biggest scapegoat ever invented. If you truly believe you are too busy to pursue your dreams, ask yourself what time you wake up. Ask yourself how much time you spend on social media. Ask yourself how much time you spend clicking refresh on your email. Ask yourself how much time you spend watching your favorite television shows. Ask yourself how much time you spend watching the evening news or reading your favorite websites. When we are honest with ourselves, we realize we are not too busy. We just haven’t made our dreams a priority in our schedule.

The boxes we are nudged into by society are invented by someone else. The people in this world that find enormous success, incredible happiness, and love the lives they live recognize that these boxes are not real. They shatter these boxes, and all of the sudden the world is a wide open playground, ready to be explored. The boxes are limiting beliefs. But they are only limiting if you believe they are there. That can change today.

Eliminate Bad Days – Follow These Tips

I take nothing for granted. I now have only good days, or great days.” – Lance Armstrong

Never Have a Bad Day Again

bad dayYou have good days and bad. Wouldn’t it be great if you could eliminate most of the bad days from your life? You have the ability to make good days the norm.

What constitutes a good day is debatable. Maybe each day you’re alive could be considered a good day. It’s up to you.

What has to happen for you to label a day as “good”?

Eliminate bad days with a few strategies:

1. Refuse to have a bad day. There are many opportunities to have a bad day. You might be running late or your car decides to break down. Someone might speak unkindly to you or you spill mustard on your pants.

Having a bad day can be a lot like eating a piece of cake you know you should ignore. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to bite.

Avoid letting a few minor mishaps ruin your day.

2. Choose to be happy, or at least content. In spite of whatever is going wrong, choose to be happy. If you can’t find any happiness, at least be content. You can choose to have a good day or a bad day. Release your expectations and try to see what’s good in each situation.

3. Spend time with someone you love. Few activities can bring your perspective back to reality more effectively than spending time with a loved one. The stress, worry, and anxiety seem to melt away.

4. Be on time. Being late creates stress. The stress begins once you realize you’re going to be late. It rarely ends until the day is over. If you’re late for one activity, you can be late for everything afterwards, too. Give yourself plenty of time to keep your schedule intact.

5. Have a morning routine. If your morning starts well, you’ll find the rest of your day goes well. A morning routine is an effective way to get the day off to a positive start.

An effective routine can include what time you wake up, a review of your to-do list, wearing the clothes you laid out the night before, affirmations, exercise, and anything else you enjoy in the morning.

Build your routine slowly and ensure it enhances your day.

6. Try doing less. Having too much to do creates many challenges that get in the way of having a good day. Reduce your schedule to the most important 3-5 tasks.

Stick to the important and urgent tasks. Reschedule the rest.

7. Complete your most important task. There are few things more frustrating than a stressful day that accomplishes little. Give yourself the gift of knowing that you completed at least one important task. That’s more than most can claim. Complete it as early in the day as possible and give yourself time to accomplish even more.

8. Be grateful. When life is wearing you down, remember all the great things in your life. Give yourself a few minutes to list all the positive people and circumstances in your life. Are you healthy? Do you have friends and family? Your life is probably much better than you think!

Consider listing those things that fill you with gratitude as part of your morning routine. Your attitude will be primed to have a good day.

Having a good day is relative. The worst day for a middle-class American might be a great day for a child in a third-world country. Only you can assign a quality label to your day. Make the conscious decision to have a great day.
