Typically, people associate success with money, power and fame. If you have all of these things you could still be unsuccessful. If you do not have wealth, power and fame, people could still consider you as being successful.

A person may have a very solid business and career, which gives him a great job and be well-respected by his coworkers but still not be in the top 10% of successful money earners. All of this does not mean that the person is not successful.

There are many ways that a person can achieve success in their lives. They don’t have to have a high income or a prestigious job.

Here are some personal success traits to consider.

Forgiveness is important to successful people. A truly successful person knows that forgiveness is not just something they should do. For them forgiveness is natural. If they are offended by someone, they know that to keep moving forward, they know that forgiveness will help them.

  • They will forgive the offender and continue to move forward with their lives rather than hold a grudge or let the offence affect them negatively.

  • By forgiving others, they no longer have many negative emotions which enables them to focus on getting closer to their goals which makes them more successful.

They understand when they need to stay with or leave an endeavour. They know when to continue doing what they are doing or when to try something new.

  • A successful person stays with the projects that they are passionate about. They don’t become frustrated or feel burned out due to boredom. They move on when they no longer enjoy what they are doing.

  • They will determine which projects to continue and which ones to abandon using their intuition and gut instinct.

  • This method is usually correct because of their experience in recognizing when the work they are doing is no longer worthwhile for them to continue.

Failure is not feared, it is welcomed. Failure is understood not to be harmful by a successful person. Failure of giving up is the only type of failure to be avoided. They understand that failure means that they are not doing something right. It helps them to continue to learn and to grow.

  • They figure out what is needed to improve and continue with their progress when they experience loss.

  • Being an overnight success is impossible. It requires hard work, patience and time to become successful.

Their habits help them to succeed. Living a balanced life of eating nutritious food, exercise and sleep is essential. A successful person has healthy habits that help them to keep their health and vitality.

  • The work they are doing now is necessary to be successful later. They understand that it isn’t necessary to overwork and burn out in the drive to succeed.

While having money and power is very helpful, they aren’t necessary to achieve success. You don’t have to make a lot of money or be famous to be successful.

Having good habits and positive behaviours are the key to success. Doing this, whether you are rich or poor and you will achieve success.

Aspirations – What Are They?

Do you have a goal you want to achieve in your future? If you have hopes and dreams, you have aspirations. You have a sense of purpose and direction for living with these big picture goals. But you need to know, having goals and having aspirations are not the same thing.

Aspirations are more long-term and geared to the future, while goals are actions you need to take to get you to your destination. Look at it as looking back on your career and knowing that you were able to meet your goals, that is an aspiration. When you get a new position in six months, that is a goal. They have different, separate functions but they do work together.

Aspirations Breakdown

You will have more meaning and focus in your life when you have aspirations. There are various types of aspirations you start to look for when you start to dream about your future. People’s aspirations give them a different outlook on their lives. Some, like being a good provider are simple while others aim to be a lot higher like becoming rich and famous.

We try for two types of aspirations – intrinsic and extrinsic. They have some common themes that are indicators of s sense of purpose in our lives. The breakdown here will help you to understand which of the two types that you tend to focus on.

Intrinsic : these aspirations will satisfy your well-being. These are usually centred around relationships, your contributing to your community, health and your personal growth. An example of a social aspiration would be to make friends and build your relationships and volunteer. There are also family aspirations and skill aspirations where you develop a new skill.

Extrinsic: These types of aspirations are for achieving an instrumental outcome in your life. An extrinsic aspiration would be that you are physically attractive, wealthy or being popular. A financial aspiration when you were growing up would be to have a million dollars. If you wanted to be popular when in high school, you had popularity aspirations.

Your career aspirations can be both intrinsic and extrinsic. There are certain things that you want to accomplish like having a certain salary and image. These have parts of personal growth and community contributions mixed together.

Get What You Want Using Visualization

How do you intend to get what you want out of your life?

You probably have many wants, some simple like losing a small amount of weight, while others may be a lot more complex, like changing careers. You can use the same techniques whether you have large or small goals.

The technique is visualize what you want. You need to picture, in detail, in your mind your goal so that you can manifest this change. Doing this may look and sound difficult, but it is fairly easy. There really are only five simple steps to follow.

Get fully engaged in the vision. You have to be fully engaged in the vision and put yourself into it as much as possible. This involves using all of your emotions so that you can experience the vision that makes it real to you. You can’t hold back.

Use different point of view. How does this visualization feel? First connect the emotions to the actions by experiencing it as yourself. Feel every part of the visualization. After, step back and watch it as though you were watching yourself in a movie. Doing this will enable you to see some details you might have missed.

Live your success. You now need to start to live your success after you have done the visualization. You have to behave, think, move and act like the person at the end of your vision.

The message needs to be reinforced. To be successful, your visualization needs back-up. The world is full of negative influences that can take root in your mind. By keeping your self-talk positive and using affirmations, you will be constantly reinforcing your vision of success instead of destroying it.

Make your vision real to you. Create a vision board or some other method to remind yourself of your vision. Put this somewhere where you will be constantly reminded of the experiences you felt when you visualized. Your resolve to achieve your goals will be reinforced by seeing the board over and over.

When you follow these steps, your dream will be becoming a lot more solid. There is work required to actually achieve what you want. You do get a clear idea of where you want to be and the path to take when you visualize.

Victim of Circumstances or of Your Own Thinking

Your circumstances are impacted by your inner world. Your thoughts, emotions and actions are affected by your beliefs. Your life is created by your actions. Many of your thoughts and your emotions are habitual and some of your beliefs may be unfounded. You can affect your experiences when you change any of your internal components.

Your inner world is under your control but it can still be challenging to make changes.

When you make changes in your mind, changes in your life will follow.

Experience gratitude at the start and end of your day. You can easily focus on those things you don’t have, but you should spend some time in the morning and before going to bed thinking about the blessings in your life.

  • You will brighten up your mood and increase the good things that will come into your life when you focus on the positive.

Look for solutions. You make a mistake if you focus too much time on your problems. You feel helpless and terrible. This also doesn’t help you to solve the challenges that you are facing. When you find something going wrong in your life you should move to solution-finding mode.

  • You have many options available to help you make a positive change.

Take care of yourself. A common cause of depression has been identified as undiagnosed heart disease. You look at the world differently when your body is not right. Your feelings guide your life. Your emotions can mislead you when your health is compromised.

Keep yourself grounded in reality. Many people are living in a fantasy world. You may be thinking about your past or you may be speculating about your future. By living wisely and well in the present moment, you will have a joyous future you are hoping for.

  • Life is going by 24/7 and the actions that you are taking now will determine your life in the future. If your mind is somewhere else, you can’t act today.

Positive affirmations should be used. Throughout the day give yourself a great gift by using positive self-talk and having positive thoughts. Negative emotions come from negative thoughts while positive emotions will fill you when you have positive thoughts. You can change your world when you have positive thoughts.

Know your beliefs. List the beliefs that you believe are holding you back and question them. Where did this belief come from? Do you know it is accurate? Could this belief be false? What information do you have to support this belief?

Keep track of your thoughts. Set an alarm for 60 minutes and when it goes off, go over how you were using your mind over that hour.

  • What were you thinking about during that hour? Did you remain focused on your work? Were you focusing on a personal item? Were you using your mind to help you plan a better future?

  • You can help yourself to stay focused by measuring yourself every hour. If you only check yourself once a day, it is very easy to get back into your old patterns.

Meditate. There are many physical and mental benefits to meditating. Meditation can reduce your stress and strengthen your health. It can also help to correct your false beliefs and let you focus and gain clarity. There is a huge and positive effect on your life when you meditate. Each day you should schedule some meditation time.

Many people think that they are victims of circumstances whereas they are actually victims of their own thinking. It doesn’t matter how bad your life is now, there is someone who was in an even worse position at the start and ended up leading an incredible life. You can change your outer world by changing your inner world.

When you learn what is controlling you it is possible to change your world. You must take control of your inner thoughts.

Signs You Are Actually Doing Better Than You Think

Many people think that they are doing a lot worse than they actually are. Many people are just more pessimistic than others. Unless you are looking for it, progress can be hard to see.

You are probably mistaken if you think you are working really hard with very little to show for your work. You are really doing a lot better than you think you are.

There are some positive signs that you can look for to see how good you are doing.

You are learning from every mistake and failure. You will become very successful in a short period of time when you learn something from every mistake and failure.

  • A lot of people keep making the same errors. They keep repeating their behaviours. You can make the choice to act differently when you find yourself in a situation that is similar to past situations.

You know what it is that you want. This is half of the battle. If you know what you want, you have a huge advantage over others. Many people just float through life aimlessly.

You make good use of your time. Good things happen when you spend your time wisely. If you spend your time poorly, it can lead to a train wreck of a life.

  • Ask yourself what the best use of your time is before deciding on doing something, then do what is best.

Your progress is constant. A great sign is making regular, consistent progress. You may feel that you are still very far from your goal, but you only need to make regular progress. While you may have been on a diet for years and haven’t lost any weight, just losing a pound a week is progress and becomes meaningful over time.

You are consistent. If you are successful, you put in some work daily. You can’t be successful by working hard for a day occasionally.

  • By being consistent, you are also sticking to your goals. You are going nowhere when you work on one goal for a short time then change your mind and work on something else.

You are not alone. Some people are alone in the world. You are doing a lot better than others if you are not alone.

Be optimistic. There is hope when you are optimistic. When you are optimistic, you will take action towards achieving your goals.

  • You become stuck very quickly when you have low expectations. You think that you are wasting your time to put in any effort.

You are determined. A good sign that you are going places is showing commitment. When you are determined, good things happen.

Other people’s opinions don’t worry you. You won’t do anything significant when you care too much about what other people think of you. You will want to play it safe. You need to leave their opinions behind you.

You have a warm and dry place to sleep. You know how nice this is when you have had to go without it. You are doing better than you think if you don’t have to deal with this situation.

You are working. It is a great thing to have a steady income. It is difficult for some people to find a source of steady employment. While you may be earning less than you would like to, earning anything is a lot better than earning nothing.

You have your health. If you are healthy, you are better off than a lot of people. Having good health is a huge blessing.

Today, our society is easy in many areas but it can be challenging in many others. There is a high priority on being successful, but other things are important as well. Having friends, a warm bed and a job are also relevant.

You are doing well when you know what you want to achieve and you are wisely spending your time. Even if you haven’t seen the results you want, have faith and keep going.
