Setting Effective Daily Goals Quickly

You find it easy to set exciting goals, but you lose track along the way to achieving them. You want to lose weight, or get a promotion but even though you really want to achieve these goals, you find yourself not being successful and end up back where you started. Your key to success may be setting daily goals.

Keep your long-term goals but guide yourself to your destination by using short-term goals. There are many benefits to daily goals that you can use.

These are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

The benefits of daily goals

They can keep you focused. With your daily responsibilities, it is easy for any personal priorities to get buried. You can remember your purpose with the help of short-term goals. You can keep sight of your dreams while continuing to work to earn a paycheck and be able to take care of your family,

They break down bigger goals. Big projects can be overwhelming. Using daily action plans can make them less daunting. When you use them, you can pick out a couple of steps that are worthwhile and can complete each day. When you continue to build some momentum, you will be able to continue moving towards your goal.

You create a sense of urgency. If you have a year to accomplish something, what happens? You will tend to procrastinate. You can move yourself forward with tighter deadlines.

Adapt to change quicker. You may have to change or modify your goals or strategy at times. When you are working in 24-hour blocks, you can solve any conflicts before they become a lot more serious.

Daily goals usage

Your values are clarified. Your goals are more satisfying and more compelling when they align with your core values. Think about what you really do want out of your life.

Your strengths are better used. Take advantage of your skills and talents when you design your goals. Determine what you are good at and what you like to do. You can aim towards targets that are more realistic for you when you understand your own abilities.

Positive thinking. Rather than trying to avoid something, identify what you want to do. You will be more motivated and have less anxiety when you use positive statements.

Taking control. Your desired end is from an outcome goal while the steps you take to get there are from process goals. You may encounter obstacles if you are trying to become an Olympic athlete. You can still choose a sport, look for a coach and begin your training.

Write things down. Your plans become more concrete when you write them down. A pen and paper is best, but you can use a computer application.

Distractions can be avoided. When you adjust your habits and your environment, you can maximize your productivity. You can reduce the times you check your phone, keep your desk clean and turn off the television.

Take some breaks. Downtime is important. Find a routine that will work for you. Move around and shift your attention during your time off.

Learn. You can learn how your performance can be enhanced from your setbacks. Take responsibility and focus on the the things that you can do differently the next time you are in that situation.

Reward yourself. When you feel like you are in a slump, you can renew your enthusiasm by giving yourself an incentive. Pick something that you are willing to work for, either a small or large treat.

Seek help from others. Ask others for support and some constructive feedback. You can also find an accountability partner, someone who is trying to achieve a similar objective is best.

Keep yourself healthy. Keeping fit will help you to protect your physical and psychological health. Eat well, exercise and get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep to help you manage stress.

You can be happier and more productive just by having goals. Make this an ongoing process to help transform your life. Set daily goals and keep trying to reach them daily.

Your Stress Level and Your Environment

You spend a lot if time in your home and workplace and if there is a lot of conflict created in those areas, your stress levels can increase.

If your work or living area is cluttered, you will spend a lot of time just looking for items. When you do this you are taking time away from getting your work done or spending time with your family. Improving your organizational skills can be a good first step in reduce the stress in your life.

There are companies that can help design a more efficient office. Many people are taking this concept into their homes as well. You will be more productive and have a better sense of peace when the places you use give you a sense of balance. Your stress levels can be lowered as well.

There are some people who believe that all of this is nonsense and the companies are just trying to make money. While this may be true in some cases, but there are still many people who, having made the transformations in their office or homes, have noticed the differences in their environments.

The design industry has many fads. These fads appear and disappear which can make the detractors think that their beliefs are true. Consider the interest in Feng Shui which was popular before and seems to have disappeared now.

How well you can tolerate stress is another factor to consider. Some people can only handle a minor amount of stress while others have a higher tolerance. If you can handle a large amount of stress, your environment isn’t going to make much of an impact. Working in a well designed environment may have a small impact, they can usually work just about anywhere.

For those people that have trouble with stress, a well designed environment may be very helpful. The cost of a well designed work or home office will be worth it if their outlook and their productivity are improved. A company has to make the decision on the office redesign based on their employees tolerance for stress. It may be hard to convince them to spend the money if it may not make a difference to the work output.

A DIY Goal Setting Program

life coach

There are many methods to set and achieve your goals to make your life the best ever.

You can dream about what you want to achieve and hope that what you need will suddenly appear and you will be swiftly taken to the great life.

You could also attend a seminar or webinar and try to follow the advice that was given to everyone in attendance. This could be successful if you can maintain the motivation that you came away from the seminar with over the course of achieving your goal.

Another method is entering a self-directed program designed by a Life Coach that provides you with materials and guidance to set and achieve your goals. You still need to maintain your own motivation during the time that you are working on your goals, but if the course is designed properly, this is a little easier. While this is still not the perfect method it is at least a guided method that can help you on your goal path.

The best method is working with a Life Coach either one-on-one or in a group setting. Here you get the benefit of being able to ask questions about things you may not understand. You can also get feedback on your plan and methods that can keep you on track. You also get an external source of motivation to keep you going. While the best motivation is internal, having an external source to boost you up can help.

Ideally I would like you to join one of my coaching programs so that I can be your guide to success.

But I know that many of you are hesitant of working with a Life Coach one-on-one, even though many successful business people, entertainers and sports start use them in their own lives.

To help you, I have designed a Group Coaching program that you can learn more about here:

Croup Coaching Program link – https://coachmichaelw.com/Group_coaching/

If that program is still not for you, I have put together a DIY program that includes the material to determine what area of your life to work on, what your goal should be and how to design a plan to achieve that goal. This program also includes a Journal to help keep you motivated. When you write in a journal, you can see your progress.

Not to leave you completely on your own, I have also included an email life-line to ask me questions about your plan.

You can find out more and purchase the program at:

DIY Coaching Program link – https://coachmichaelw.com/diy-goal-setting-program/

Again, while I believe that actually working with a Life Coach is the best method to achieve your goals, this DIY program can really help you especially with the email support I have included.

Don’t just wish for your goals to be achieved. Take the necessary steps to actually achieve them.

Nothing happens in life until action is taken. Take that action now.

To your success.

Why Other People Stop You From Being Successful

held back from success

There will be people who try to stop you from making changes in your life. Some may believe that they are actually trying to help you because they want you to stay as you are. This means that they feel comfortable because they are not improving themselves.

If you want to succeed, it can be very frustrating to find out that a lot of people are not actually on your side. You have to manage this if you do want to succeed.

If you would like to listen to these types of articles, you can visit my podcasts atpodcastThese are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

How others can derail your path to success.

Your past failures are always mentioned. In the past, we have all failed. In an attempt to sabotage your success efforts, these people will bring up those past failures.

    • Your goal is to climb all of the 14,000+ high peaks in the US. A friend may remind you that at a past summer camp you couldn’t climb the 2,000 foot peak. They may tell you that you should change your goal to something more reasonable.

They want you to feel guilty. Another weapon they use is to make you feel guilty. Using the mountain climbing goal, they may tell you that travelling is expensive and you should save the money for your child’s education. They could also tell you to spend the time required with your family.

Distraction. They may tell you that you should take a vacation with them and forget the mountains.

These are the least devious ways that the people try to sabotage your efforts. Why do they do this? They may present it as a way that is supportive even though it is not.

Why do those people close to you sabotage your efforts toward success?

They are comfortable with being mediocre. They have to deal with the facts that they have not done something amazing like you. This makes them feel that they are life losers. It is a lot easier to hold you back than to deal with their own fear, insecurity and laziness.

They are jealous. Some people are jealous of your success. Others may be happy to see you achieve success, like winning a lottery or lose weight. People will try to stop you and if they can’t stop you they will try to make your success feel diminished.

  • They may say that they could lose weight if they had as much free time as you do.

They don’t like changes. People are getting something from you or else they wouldn’t associate with you. Any changes you make threatens the status quo. If you change and become something different what does that leave them.

  • If you stay the same, it is easier for them.

What you need to do, in the face of all of these objections is to commit yourself to bring successful. You may want to remove the worst of the offenders from your life. Life is difficult enough without having your own friends and family trying to make it even more difficult.

Make sure that you commit to your goals for the right reason. Achieving them to impress others is a shallow reason. You have to do it for yourself.

You should consider keeping your bigger goals to yourself so that you. Will get less push back and resistance from others. You don’t have to wait for the approval of others, just choose what is best for you and go after it.

Don’t Make Resolutions – Set Goals

resolutions

Over 80% of New Year’s resolutions are abandoned within a week. If change were easy, we’d all be wealthy, fit, and happy. It’s frustrating when you know what you want to do, but you can’t get yourself to do it consistently. If the new behaviour would obviously be of benefit, why isn’t that change easy to make?

Resolutions are really difficult to keep.

Setting goals and developing the plans to achieve them is a much better method to create success in your life.

You can find out more information and register for the group program at Coach Michael W – Group Program

Change is challenging for several reasons:

  1. Habits are strong and pervasive. The average person has far more habits than they realize. Each morning, you wake up and follow the same routine. You take the same path to work. You think the same thoughts as you did the day before. Much of your day and night is a repeat of the last 500.
  • When you feel bored, you soothe yourself in the same 2-3 ways each time. You only eat a few foods regularly. You talk to the same people.
  • Habits avoid thinking. They’re done automatically. Anything that minimizes thinking seems to be your brain’s preference. The fewer decisions, the better.
  • To change, you must be certain that change is in your best interest. Otherwise, your habits will always win.
  1. Change is hard because it’s uncomfortable. You already know how to lose 25 pounds or how to find a better job. But the thought of taking the actions necessary to accomplish those goals creates discomfort.
  2. What you’re doing is already working, sort of. Your brain is preoccupied with your survival. Our brains are programmed to resist change, because what you’re doing is allowing you to live. Any change could potentially lead to death. You might be unhappy today, but you’re still alive!
  • Most of us prefer misery than facing uncertainty.
  1. You’ve tried to change in the past and failed. You’re no dummy. If you’ve tried to change several times and failed, part of you says, “Obviously, I can’t change. What’s the use in trying?”

It isn’t easy to change, but change is possible. The primary issue keeping you from following through on your plan to change is attempting to change too much, too soon. Smaller changes are easier to accomplish and to maintain.

How You Can Change

Change is possible with an effective approach:

  1. Be prepared to change. Expect that change will be challenging. Your odds of success improve if you’re prepared. Have a plan.
  2. Start small. To minimize the discomfort that change creates, only change a little each week. Meditating for two minutes each day is easier than starting with 60 minutes. The key is to get in the habit of doing the new behaviour each day.
  3. Have patience. It can take months to make a change permanent. It’s often quoted that a new habit requires 30 days to instill. That’s not true. Studies show that it can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on the habit and the person.
  4. Be willing to change yourself and face the consequences. Changing yourself is scary, because you don’t know what the results will be. Accept that your life will change in some way. Discomfort isn’t always a bad thing.
  5. Expect to relapse. Falling off the wagon is to be expected. Attempt to enhance your approach and keep going. Aim for 90% compliance. That’s all you need. Perfection is an illusion that will only serve to destroy your confidence.

Change requires patience with yourself. Understand why it’s so challenging to change and choose to make changes slowly and incrementally. Imagine how much you could change over a few years if you changed just a tiny amount each week. The results would be staggering! How much have you changed over the last few years? Give slow change a chance.

To your success.
