Is success really worth the stress, struggle and disappointment you need to go through? While it isn’t necessarily easy, success can be simple. The first step toward being successful is to recognize and avoid the mistakes that can limit success
Take control of your success
There are many things in your life that can hold you back from being successful.
Some are external and there isn’t much you can do about those. But the ones that do the most damage are the internal ones.
Your self-talk and limiting beliefs are the two main things that can hold you back.
You can try to fix these by yourself or you can work with a Life Coach.
This short video talks to these points and offers you a solution.

Having non-effective habits. There are habits that can help you to achieve success no matter what your definition of success is. Other habits can create barriers to success. What are you doing every day that brings you closer to success? What are the habits that you need to do each day to guarantee success?
- Little things that are done over a long period of time make a difference. Success takes time to be achieved.
Goals that are not clear and concise. How will you know if you are successful if you don’t have a goal to aim for? Successful people have and review their goals regularly. You will be unsuccessful if you don’t know what you want.
Not having a plan. You will struggle if you live by default and have no plan or direction. You live a reactive life. You are either very passive or you are firefighting. You need to have a plan that moves your life in a positive direction.
Being busy is not the same as being productive. Your thinking is flawed if you mistake 8 hours of activity as being 8 hours of productivity. The Pareto Principle says that you will get 80% of your success from only 20% of your possible options. Many people will move toward the easier and more comfortable activities that are only going to provide a limited return on the time invested.
- Choose those activities that will provide the greatest return. Busyness is not productivity.
Not being consistent. Being extremely consistent is the mark of a champion. You may not want to make a minute-by-minute plan for your day and live the same day over and over again, but you do need to be a lot more consistent than the average person if you want to be successful. Work on reaching your goals each day.
Dealing with discomfort ineffectively. To make progress you need to have new behaviors. At some level, new behaviors are uncomfortable. You find comfort in repetition, but repeating past behaviors keeps your life at a standstill. If you want to be successful, you deal with the discomfort and move forward.
- A few tools that you can use to help move you past discomfort are breathing exercises, prayer or meditation and yoga. Just because you are uncomfortable doesn’t mean that you can’t do something.
Mistakes and failures are not used as learning tools. People that fail the most are usually the most successful. It is a mistake to avoid failure. Failure isn’t the objective but it is part of achieving success. Your starting point is only your first attempt at something. Making improvements uses failure as a tool.
- Failure, while an undesired result, allows you to make a much better attempt the next time. Success comes from constant improvement.
Worrying about things that cannot be changed. Many things in life cannot be changed. This is true of the past. You need to be able to let go and focus on those things that you can change.
Avoiding the most common mistakes makes finding success much easier. A pivotal part of being successful is avoiding mistakes. Create the goals you want then create the habits that will support those goals. Success can be simple when you can deal with discomfort and learn from your mistakes.
