Why Do Some People Have More Courage Than Others?

courage

When you are in a meeting there are always people who tend to dominate the conversations. You find that most people will just sit there and listen and not participate. Why do some people not speak out but others easily speak up?

Before you can start to plan your success goals, there are many things that you need to understand before you can be sure that the goals you set are really the ones you want.

One of those things is to determine if there are any Limiting Beliefs that can stop you from actually achieving those goals.

I have a self-study Limiting Belief Program that you can go through to determine what your Limiting Beliefs are and how you can remove them.

You can read more and register for the program at Limiting Beliefs Program on my Confidence and Life Coaching website.

Start your journey on your path to success by identifying and removing your Limiting Beliefs so that you make the journey a lot easier.

A lot of this can be related to their upbringing. If they were raised in a dynamic family where there were strong personalities, they will have these characteristics as well. If their upbringing was more relaxed they will be more laid back as well.

Some family members will even have stronger personalities than others. Generally speaking, older siblings are more dominant over younger ones. When parents ask older children to watch over younger children, it might put them in a position of dominance. This persists throughout the life of each sibling.

Your development is as shaped by your school environment. Early in your schooling the more dominant people will lead while the more quiet personalities will follow. There are levels of leading. Some people will lead in all areas while others will lead in some situations and be more laid back in others. Unless you make changes, the role you take in school will follow you throughout life.

If you have a tendency to be reserved and laid back, you can learn to be more adventurous. You might need to adopt a more dominant position for it. People who are not accustomed to your behaviour may find this shocking. You can even feel surprised by the shift.

Take things slowly if you intend to alter and be more brave. This will assist you in adjusting to internal changes. Additionally, it will be simpler for others to accept the new you. If you try to overwhelm them with your improvements, you can encounter resistance that makes progress more difficult.

Start spending time with people who already act in this way if you wish to be more adventurous. They will give you indications, so pay attention to how they behave. When you feel comfortable doing so, make an effort to combine those qualities. Strong personalities can be questioned and probed as to how they came to be the way they are once you get close enough. These are the people who are willing to brag about their lives. This class is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to be more adventurous.

Victim of Circumstances or of Your Own Thinking

Your circumstances are impacted by your inner world. Your thoughts, emotions and actions are affected by your beliefs. Your life is created by your actions. Many of your thoughts and your emotions are habitual and some of your beliefs may be unfounded. You can affect your experiences when you change any of your internal components.

Your inner world is under your control but it can still be challenging to make changes.

When you make changes in your mind, changes in your life will follow.

Experience gratitude at the start and end of your day. You can easily focus on those things you don’t have, but you should spend some time in the morning and before going to bed thinking about the blessings in your life.

  • You will brighten up your mood and increase the good things that will come into your life when you focus on the positive.

Look for solutions. You make a mistake if you focus too much time on your problems. You feel helpless and terrible. This also doesn’t help you to solve the challenges that you are facing. When you find something going wrong in your life you should move to solution-finding mode.

  • You have many options available to help you make a positive change.

Take care of yourself. A common cause of depression has been identified as undiagnosed heart disease. You look at the world differently when your body is not right. Your feelings guide your life. Your emotions can mislead you when your health is compromised.

Keep yourself grounded in reality. Many people are living in a fantasy world. You may be thinking about your past or you may be speculating about your future. By living wisely and well in the present moment, you will have a joyous future you are hoping for.

  • Life is going by 24/7 and the actions that you are taking now will determine your life in the future. If your mind is somewhere else, you can’t act today.

Positive affirmations should be used. Throughout the day give yourself a great gift by using positive self-talk and having positive thoughts. Negative emotions come from negative thoughts while positive emotions will fill you when you have positive thoughts. You can change your world when you have positive thoughts.

Know your beliefs. List the beliefs that you believe are holding you back and question them. Where did this belief come from? Do you know it is accurate? Could this belief be false? What information do you have to support this belief?

Keep track of your thoughts. Set an alarm for 60 minutes and when it goes off, go over how you were using your mind over that hour.

  • What were you thinking about during that hour? Did you remain focused on your work? Were you focusing on a personal item? Were you using your mind to help you plan a better future?

  • You can help yourself to stay focused by measuring yourself every hour. If you only check yourself once a day, it is very easy to get back into your old patterns.

Meditate. There are many physical and mental benefits to meditating. Meditation can reduce your stress and strengthen your health. It can also help to correct your false beliefs and let you focus and gain clarity. There is a huge and positive effect on your life when you meditate. Each day you should schedule some meditation time.

Many people think that they are victims of circumstances whereas they are actually victims of their own thinking. It doesn’t matter how bad your life is now, there is someone who was in an even worse position at the start and ended up leading an incredible life. You can change your outer world by changing your inner world.

When you learn what is controlling you it is possible to change your world. You must take control of your inner thoughts.

A Gratitude Mindset

gratitude

Reach Your Goals

When you focus intently on reaching a long-term goal, it is easy to believe that you won’t be happy until you actually reach the goal. Long-term goals are important but you should not pursue them at the expense of your daily life. A great benefit in reaching your goals is to be grateful for what you have already and what you have already achieved.

You Are Happier

Your brain works differently when you have feelings of gratitude. You are much happier and a lot more content when you are fully aware of all of the wonderful things that you already have in your life. You believe that more good things will come into your life in the future when you are happy and feeling good about what you have in your life.

Lowered Stress

You will have a life filled with stress when your life is filled with struggle to always be better. You want to reach all of your goals and unlock your inner potential, but you also need to balance this desire with showing gratitude for everything that you have accomplished and for what you already have in your life. It is easy to believe that you aren’t good enough when you are always pushing yourself to keep going forward. You will enjoy your journey to your goal and reduce your stress level when you focus on being grateful for today.

More Optimistic

You will ensure that you are dissatisfied with life when you believe that the grass is greener on the other side. When you think this, you feel that you will never achieve the life you want. You may also think that you will never attain your dreams and just give up. You can enjoy your life now and look forward to a better future once your goals are achieved when you have a gratitude mindset.

While it doesn’t take a lot of your time and any extra effort to obtain a grateful spirit, it makes a huge difference in your life. Keep a note of all of the things that happen during your day that you are grateful for. You may also keep a gratitude journal that you can record your daily observations of gratitude. If you feel that your focus on your goal has been excessive and you are not appreciating what you have already, give using a journal a try.

Things That Can Ruin Your Life and How to Avoid Them

failure

No person ever sets out to ruin their lives. It’s impossible to find someone that will make a New Year’s resolution to ruin their life.

Children don’t daydream about how much they’d love to become alcoholics in the future. Students don’t attend classes on how to go bankrupt.

Couples don’t dress up, spend so much money on a wedding, and show up at the altar while planning to get a divorce a few years later.

The point is, nobody plans to fail. But failure happens whether we like it or not.

And our failures are the result of our choices. We often don’t willingly make choices that we know will cause us to fail.

So, how can we avoid making poor decisions that will end up ruining our lives? These ideas can help:

  1. Stop entertaining the idea that your actions don’t have consequences. You may think you’re doing it for fun, but your actions have consequences.

    • For example, if you fail to pay your bills, you may get chased down by a debt collector. If you tell a lie, you may upset others. If you smoke, you may eventually develop emphysema.
    • Whatever happens, every action you take has a consequence. And you can’t change the consequences or pick and choose what will happen.
    • Your actions either lead you to your goals or lead you away from your dreams. It’s the difference between winning and losing.

If you would like to listen to these types of articles, you can visit my podcasts at

podcast

These are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

  1. Live within your means. It is always better to plan and make smart financial decisions. Today, many people have no problem living beyond their means because they believe that it’s okay.
    • Unfortunately, this will only lead to a difficult financial situation in the future. The social media lifestyle causes a lot of people to get carried away with the allure of a lifestyle they know they can’t afford.
    • To avoid this trap, focus on what matters the most in your life. Many older people today are paying for things they accepted years ago. They still have mortgages, kids, and day-to-day costs that they have trouble covering.
    • They scrimp on health care and end up sick for a long time.
  1. Break any forms of addiction, including drugs, pornography, or shopping. Habits like these have a very negative impact on your life. The sad reality is, many people suffer some form of addiction today.
    • Addictions lead to feelings of loneliness, and they don’t fill your life with good things. Some even cost your life. People find it challenging to break addictions because they feed them.
    • It doesn’t take a single day to form a habit – it usually requires repetition to develop one. An alcoholic doesn’t become one by drinking one beer. The more he drinks, the stronger the addiction becomes.
    • Eventually, he has no choice but to keep drinking. That’s the case with most addictions. Anything that is a drug or habit-forming has the potential to ruin your life.
    • The solution? Stop feeding them.
  1. Avoid assuming that you’re the only one going through your painful situation. Sometimes we gravitate towards others who share our problems, but it’s all too easy to think no one else exists out there who’s struggling like us.
    • The truth is, you’re not alone. And thinking you’re alone is usually just an excuse you give yourself.
    • Instead of making such assumptions, why not reach out? Talk to others and tell them what’s going through your mind. You might discover that they’re going through something similar. Once you’ve connected with those around you, you’ll be able to realize you’re not alone.

There are so many things that can ruin our lives. And sometimes, we only need to look at the path others ahead of us have set to realize what a mistake we make to live a certain way. And that’s okay, because this isn’t the end. We haven’t given up. We’re only getting started.

How to Axe Self-Sabotaging Behaviour

self-sabotage

Self-sabotage is a uniquely human behaviour. Many of us sabotage ourselves when we decide we want something by doing everything we can to ensure we don’t get it. Sound familiar? Although self-sabotage is a subconscious behaviour, we can get a handle on it.

There are many reasons that you might sabotage yourself. It’s an extremely common behaviour, rooted in a fear of the unknown. If you’ve immersed yourself in mediocrity, the idea of greatness may be frightening. Ask yourself if you’re satisfied with your life.

Find out why you may self-sabotage:

  1. You might self-sabotage because you have a need to be in control of your circumstances. The easiest and most certain way to stay in control is to maintain the status quo.
    • If you put your all into something, you run the risk of becoming vulnerable. Fear gets the best of you and you self-sabotage.

To help me to better plan this blog and other material, I invite you to take a quick 1-question survey by clicking on the photo below.we hear you

  1. Low self-esteem. Do you feel unworthy of greatness?
    • For whatever reason, you may have decided that happiness ought to be forever beyond your reach. This is a self-limiting idea, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  1. Perhaps you undermine your efforts because you’re seeking excitement. You feel the need to remain in a constant state of turmoil to distract yourself from painful memories or alleviate boredom.

If you see yourself in any of these descriptions, fear not: there are steps you can take to put yourself on the path toward self-mastery.

Consider this process for defeating your self-sabotage:

  1. Observe your behaviour. First off, it’s essential that you begin to observe yourself. You can effectively do this by creating a self-sabotage journal. Make a journal entry every time you realize that you’ve sabotaged yourself. Describe the setting, circumstances, and end result. Avoid over-analyzing.
    • Most often, a person’s true intentions are most evident in their actions, rather than their words.
    • Strive to be an impersonal observer in your journal. Eventually, you’ll gain a better understanding of your motives in certain situations.
  1. Envision success. Keep in mind that success is neither black nor white. Cultivate the habit of envisioning what success means to you and remember how it feels to achieve it. If you do this consistently, you may find that what you envision changes over time.
    • Begin to see success as an integral part of your future, but realize there will still be challenges. Just like everyone else, you’ll still have to pay taxes and have relationship issues.
  1. Let go of the notion of perfection. As you visualize success, are you still thinking that success equals perfection? If so, it’s time to realize that nobody is perfect.
    • This is what George Bernard Shaw would refer to as “doublethink.” Perfection and life are mutually exclusive because perfection is unattainable. Your subconscious won’t allow you to achieve success if you associate success with the impossible task of being perfect.
    • Think of your subconscious as a computer. It doesn’t know how to execute a command called “do the impossible.”
    • If you associate success with fear, your subconscious will fight you the entire way. Why? Because its primary function is to protect you from perceived threats.

Give yourself permission to anticipate success with excitement. Perhaps you’ve been sending your subconscious the message, “Don’t give me success!” So, let’s put your self-sabotaging behaviours in the past!

Embrace the good life you deserve by picturing yourself as successful, and then refuse to talk yourself out of going for it. The journey to your ideal life starts now!
