The Power of Pure IQ

We all know about this one, right? It’s the Einstein kind of smarts. But let me tell you, having a high IQ is like owning a fancy sports car. It’s great to have, but if you don’t know how to drive it, you’re not going anywhere. So, how can you make the most of your IQ?

  • Keep learning and expanding your knowledge base.
  • Look for connections between unrelated fields and concepts.
  • But remember, a high IQ alone won’t guarantee success. It’s just one piece of the puzzle.

Emotional Intelligence: The Unsung Hero

Ever heard the phrase, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”? Well, I’d like to add a twist to it: “it’s not just what you know, it’s how you handle what you feel and perceive”.

Emotional intelligence is all about understanding and managing your emotions, and being able to read and respond to the emotions of others. It’s like being a skilled diplomat in the world of feelings. And guess what? It can often be more important than a high IQ! So how can you boost your emotional intelligence?

  • Learn to identify and manage your emotions.
  • Practice empathy and understanding others’ emotions.
  • Work on your patience and frustration management.

Social Intelligence: Your Secret Weapon

Social intelligence is the ability to act appropriately in social situations. It’s about knowing when to crack a joke and when to be serious, when to be formal and when to be casual. It’s like having a built-in GPS for navigating social situations. And, it’s a skill you can definitely improve!

  • Learn and practice good manners and etiquette.
  • Pay attention to social cues and adjust your behavior accordingly.
  • Be aware of how others may interpret your actions and words.

Remember, intelligence isn’t just about book smarts. It’s a three-legged stool of IQ, emotional intelligence, and social intelligence. Strengthen all three, and you’ll be standing tall on the path to success.

So, are you ready to take the next step? Ready to harness the power of your intelligence and turbocharge your success? I’m here to help you do just that. Let’s get started!

Unleash Your Potential: Break Free from Your Limiting Factor

limitations

Let me ask you something: what’s holding you back from reaching your full potential? We all have that one thing, that limiting factor that stops us from going the extra mile. You know, the thing that keeps us from becoming the best version of ourselves. Let me tell you, it’s time to break free from it!

If you want to read some short ebooks related to various aspects of becoming more successful, I have a number of books available at Smashwords.com

Until June 30th, they are available at 25% off.

These are quick reads, but they give you lots of information that you can use to get you moving towards success an achieving your goals.

We all face limitations in life, no matter how successful we are. Even billionaires have their own set of constraints. The trick is to identify these limitations, tackle them head-on, and keep pushing forward. Just like a car that can only go 100 mph, once you replace the engine, you’ll find another part that needs upgrading. It’s a never-ending process, but one that keeps life exciting and rewarding.

So, what’s your limiting factor? Let’s dive in and explore some common ones:

Purpose

If you’re feeling lost and unsure about your goals, you’re limiting yourself big time. Without a clear purpose, you won’t know where to direct your energy and efforts. Time to figure out what truly matters to you and set your sights on it!

Self-awareness

It’s easy to spot flaws in others, but can you see them in yourself? Keep a journal, reflect on your actions, and ask for feedback from friends or family. Knowing yourself is the first step to overcoming your limitations.

Knowledge

You know what they say, knowledge is power. If you want to excel in a particular field, you need to learn everything you can about it. So, pick up a book, attend a seminar, or take a course. The more you know, the more you’ll grow!

Courage

Fear can be a major roadblock in our lives. Most of us know what we need to do to overcome our challenges, but taking action can be downright scary. It’s time to face your fears and take the plunge!

Money

Let’s face it, money can be a limiting factor for many of us. Whether it’s buying a house, getting that dream car, or taking a luxurious vacation, a lack of funds can hold us back. Time to get your finances in order and make your dreams a reality!

Time

Ever feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day? Time can be a major constraint, especially for those juggling multiple jobs or attending school. Take a close look at how you spend your time and find ways to make the most of it.

Relationships

Toxic relationships can be a real buzzkill. Whether it’s a negative partner, a troublesome employee, or a lack of friends, these connections can limit our lives. Don’t underestimate the power of positive relationships – surround yourself with people who lift you up!

Health

Poor health can take a toll on both your body and mind. If you’re constantly feeling down or lacking energy, it’s time to make your health a priority. Focus on your diet, exercise, and regular check-ups with your doctor.

Now that you’ve got a better understanding of what might be limiting your progress, it’s time to take action. Remember, overcoming your limitations is a lifelong process, but one that will keep you constantly growing and evolving. And if you need a little extra help, contact me and we can work to help you break free from your constraints and unleash your full potential.

So, what are you waiting for? Identify your limiting factor, face it head-on, and watch your life transform for the better!

Poor Decision Making Reasons

decision-making

What would your life look like if you could go back in time and change your choice on five major decisions you made. The differences could be stunning.

Some of the poorer decisions you made 10 years ago or longer have led to your current situation in life.

You can lead a more satisfying life by making wise decisions. You can avoid making unwise decisions that would have a negative impact on your life.

Some of the reasons for making poor decisions are:

You don’t have all the right information. You may make a rash decision because you may not have the opportunity to find out all the facts. Taking a few minutes or even days to ask the right questions and do some research can help make your decisions much more effective.

If you would like to listen to these types of articles, you can visit my podcasts atpodcastThese are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

Your decisions are influenced by fear. Poor decisions are often based on fear. You may do anything to avoid feeling the physical sensations of fear.

  • You make the best decisions when you are moving towards something, not just trying to avoid something. When you find yourself trying to avoid something, any thing that moves you away from feelings of fear are appealing. That is like picking a direction to move by closing your eyes and spinning around.

You don’t have a defined objective. You need an objective to make wise decisions. What do you need to consider when choosing your next meal? There are a variety of goals you can use.

  • Convenience – what do you have available?
  • Cost – how expensive are the choices?
  • Health – what are the nutritional values?
  • Appearance – what foods will help me look leaner?
  • Comfort – what would feel good?
  • Taste – what foods would be the best tasting?
  • What are you trying to accomplish with your decision? From your options, what are the possible outcomes? How is your objective affected by those possible outcomes? Will you be helped or hindered in attaining your goals?

You let emotions control. A combination that rarely works are strong emotions and skilful decision-making. Your brain processes information and makes its decisions differently when under intense emotions. If you are going to make an important decision, it is best that you are calm, cool and collected.

You put comfort first. Our brains natural target is comfort. You tend to gravitate to unhealthy foods, sitting on the couch, watching TV or surfing the Internet.

  • You will usually make poor long-term decision when comfort is your goal. If you know someone who lives life this way, you can see what is wrong with making immediate comfort the main goal.
  • Progress and comfort are direct opposites. You will make quick progress in your life if you can bear a lot of discomfort. When you think of highly successful people, you see that each day they do things that the average person will pass on.

You don’t learn from your past mistakes. You can use all of your past mistakes to learn how to make wiser future decisions. Every poor decision you have made can teach you something.

What was your worst decision and what impact did it have on your life? You can see that making a few wiser decisions in the past could have made your life much different now.

It is not too late to start making wiser decisions. You can have a brighter future when you make beneficial decisions now.

Life-Altering Questions to Ask Yourself

Questions are a valuable tool. By asking yourself questions, you can change your focus and the direction of your life. The proper question can open you up to new possibilities and ideas. Take the time to examine your life and ensure you’re on the best possible path.

Ask yourself these questions on a regular basis:

  1. Have I seen enough to have an accurate view of the world? It’s surprising how many people have never crossed their state line. The northeastern part of the United States is very different from the South, Midwest, or other parts of the country. Europe is very different from Africa.
    • You’re missing out on a lot if you don’t explore other places and cultures. What are the odds that you were born in the precise place that fits you the best?
  1. Will my finances be able to support my retirement? It’s important to start asking this question immediately. Focusing on the short-term at the expense of the long-term is a common error. You only have so many tomorrows to prepare for the latter parts of your life.

  2. Where will I end up in five years if I live this day repeatedly? You might not have a time machine at your disposal, but you can probably predict the future better than you think. Our daily activities determine our future. Ask yourself these questions and project your answers over the next five years. What’s the logical outcome?
    • What did I eat today?
    • What did I do to earn money today?
    • What social activities did I engage in today?
    • How much exercise did I get today?
  1. If today were my last day to live, what would I do? You probably wouldn’t spend your day in front of the TV or spend your time worrying about silly things. Whatever answer you receive is a good indication of how you should be spending more of your time each day.
  2. Am I pleased with my career choice or would I rather do something else? Having multiple careers is much more common than it used to be. If you’re in a career you don’t enjoy, you have other options. Spending 40 years in a career that doesn’t excite you is a hard way to go through life.
  3. What are my goals? If you don’t have any goals, how do you know where you’ll end up? Without goals, we’re relegated to choosing the best options that randomly pass through our lives. It’s much more effective to decide what you want and make it happen. Leave luck out of the equation.
  4. Which parts of my life are making me unhappy? Becoming happier isn’t just about adding all the right components. It’s also about getting rid of the stuff that makes you miserable. The low-rated parts of your life make you unhappy. It’s not the fact that you don’t have a Ferrari in your driveway. Take out the trash before adding to your life.
  5. Am I living my life in a way that supports my health? Young bodies can take a surprising amount of wear and tear without showing any signs of abuse. That doesn’t last. Taking care of yourself today improves the odds of enjoying good health down the road. Eat and sleep well. See your doctor on a regular basis.
  6. Am I enjoying my life as much as I could? Are you too busy with work to notice all the good things in your life? Are you too worried to enjoy time spent with your children? You can experience many simple enjoyments every day.

It’s easy to get caught up in your old routine and never take the time to look around. By the time you lift your head, you realize you’re not where you want to be. Questions are one way to evaluate your life and create change. Be aware of your life and make conscious choices.

Challenges And The Power Of Acceptance

Inevitably in life we will have to face disappointment from time to time. Sometimes they may be little disappointments, and other times they may be great, big, heart wrenching disappointments. When this happens to us, we have a choice in how we react. Some of us may give up on our dreams, others may keep fighting stubbornly against the tide, and still others may choose another path to travel.

One important aspect of dealing with disappointment is acceptance. When we keep fighting against our circumstances and disappointments, it can leave us feeling frustrated, bitter and exhausted. Especially during those times in life when everything seems to keep going wrong for us, we get more and more stressed as we try to resist the undesirable circumstances.

Practicing acceptance can help ease that inner tension and allow us to see our situation more clearly. Accepting your circumstances does not mean giving up! It does not mean that you have to be 100% happy with your current situation. Acceptance means that you acknowledge and accept where you are in your life at this moment, even though it may not be ideal.

Maybe you hate your job or your marriage is faltering. Maybe you are struggling to lose weight and can’t seem to get anywhere with it. Whatever it is that is causing you stress, try accepting it instead of fighting against it. Repeat the following to yourself: “I may not be thrilled with the way things are in my life right now, but I accept it. I will do what I can and give the rest to God. I am thankful for the blessings I do have right now, and I know that more are on the way.”

It may take a lot of practice at the beginning, but as you continue to do this, something amazing happens. The struggles suddenly don’t seem so large anymore. They won’t magically dissolve before your eyes, but the edges seem to soften a bit. Life doesn’t seem quite so harsh anymore. Solutions to the problems may even begin to appear. If that doesn’t happen right away, that’s okay! Know that they will eventually. Just keep practicing acceptance and have faith that things will turn around.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. We are where we are in our lives right now because we are meant to be here. Several factors may have contributed to our current circumstances, such as choices we made in the past, or outside influences we have no control over. The questions to ask yourself are: What is the lesson here? What do I need to learn about this situation? Though you may not be happy with your current situation, there IS a reason you are there right now.

This is especially true if you continuously find yourself in similar situations! For example, if you keep choosing unhealthy relationships, you might want to take some time to discover why. If you are always struggling financially, there may be a message for you there. If you can’t seem to figure it out on your own, you might consider seeking professional help. Sometimes an outside party can see things that we can’t.

No matter what difficulties you are struggling with right now, know that this too shall pass. Difficulties do not last forever. Sometimes struggles are opportunities in disguise . . .

To your success
