Build Your Success Desire

success desire

Everyone has a different idea of what success is and this means that the strategy that you choose to achieve your success will be different form someone else’s. The process that you use may also differ depending on your success definition. This could mean a successful career or a good salary.

If your version of success is only related to your professional achievements, you may leave other areas of your life to chance. These areas could be family life, sports and athletics, school and learning and your relationships.

Even though your definition of success may be different, it is likely that you will feel successful when you have feelings of fulfillment, safety, health and being loved.

But what is success? This is your ability to achieve your goals, no matter what type of goal you set.

If you are struggling to achieve the important personal things, you may also struggle to find fulfillment. When you feel that you are lacking in any of the areas mentioned, you will likely feel that you are not as successful as you want to be. This can lead to your success desire to falter.

There are methods that you can use to build a more powerful desire for success.

Develop your growth mindset. The idea that your abilities are related to your choices and effort is your growth mindset. You have specific skills but you also see that you can make improvements to those skills.

  • If you have a fixed mindset, you believe that your skills can not be improved, it is impossible to learn new skills or improve your old ones. People with a growth mindset will achieve more success than those people that have a fixed mindset.

Emotional Intelligence increase. The ability to identify, understand and to manage your own emotions is Emotional Intelligence. You are also sensitive to the feelings of other people in your life and are effective at managing relationships.

  • If you are still thinking that you are not achieving success but your EI is high, you probably have self-defeating thoughts and beliefs. They could be putting limits on your options to achieve success.
  • To achieve more success in life, you have to pay attention to your emotions. You also need to learn how to manage them.

Commit to your goals publicly. You create a sense of accountability when the public knows your plan. You will feel a commitment to follow through and it will be more difficult to give up.

  • If you want to succeed, your family, friends and colleagues must know about your goals and they also must want you to succeed.
  • If you have to give up a habit to succeed, they will need to stop you from relapsing.

Encourage yourself and keep positive. You can be your own worst enemy. We are our harshest critics and this can make you give up without even trying. Your past failures and other negative thinking can make you believe that you cannot succeed.

  • If you have experienced this, get rid of the thought and use positive affirmations to encourage you. Things like “I am capable” or whatever appeals to you. It isn’t necessary to say them daily but it does help you to stay motivated.

Focus on your known strengths. Successful people are successful, not because they are perfect but they can focus on their known strengths.

  • Many of these successful people will run their business with no knowledge of certain aspects of the company. They get help when they realize that they don’t have the necessary skills. When you use this approach, you can build a more powerful desire to achieve success.

These small, powerful steps are easy and can help you to establish a positive relationship towards success. Becoming the person you want to be can help you to find success.

A Gratitude Mindset

gratitude

Reach Your Goals

When you focus intently on reaching a long-term goal, it is easy to believe that you won’t be happy until you actually reach the goal. Long-term goals are important but you should not pursue them at the expense of your daily life. A great benefit in reaching your goals is to be grateful for what you have already and what you have already achieved.

If you would like to listen to these types of articles, you can visit my podcasts at

podcast
These are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

You Are Happier

Your brain works differently when you have feelings of gratitude. You are much happier and a lot more content when you are fully aware of all of the wonderful things that you already have in your life. You believe that more good things will come into your life in the future when you are happy and feeling good about what you have in your life.

Lowered Stress

You will have a life filled with stress when your life is filled with struggle to always be better. You want to reach all of your goals and unlock your inner potential, but you also need to balance this desire with showing gratitude for everything that you have accomplished and for what you already have in your life. It is easy to believe that you aren’t good enough when you are always pushing yourself to keep going forward. You will enjoy your journey to your goal and reduce your stress level when you focus on being grateful for today.

More Optimistic

You will ensure that you are dissatisfied with life when you believe that the grass is greener on the other side. When you think this, you feel that you will never achieve the life you want. You may also think that you will never attain your dreams and just give up. You can enjoy your life now and look forward to a better future once your goals are achieved when you have a gratitude mindset.

While it doesn’t take a lot of your time and any extra effort to obtain a grateful spirit, it makes a huge difference in your life. Keep a note of all of the things that happen during your day that you are grateful for. You may also keep a gratitude journal that you can record your daily observations of gratitude. If you feel that your focus on your goal has been excessive and you are not appreciating what you have already, give using a journal a try.

Is a Neutral Mind Better Than a Positive Mind?

positive mind

Being positive and optimistic might not always be the best choice. First, it’s impossible to have a positive mindset 100% of the time. Second, there are times when it’s best to have a more neutral approach.

Learning to navigate the ups and downs in life is one of the challenges of life. It can be easier to live with calmness, composure, and level-headedness.

Just because you’re capable of strong emotional responses doesn’t mean it’s a good idea all the time. You’re capable of eating nothing but chocolate for a week, too.

The great basketball coach, John Wooden, once said that he hoped people wouldn’t be able to tell if his team had just won or lost a game by their demeanour.

The ancient Greek philosophy of Stoicism has become quite popular over the last few years. In a nutshell, a major component of Stoicism is the idea that people should be indifferent to their successes, failures, pleasure, and pain.

Consider these ideas to remain calm, composed, and present:

  1. Practice meditation daily. Meditation is the perfect way to practice being calm, composed, and focused. When you meditate, your mind wants to wander. You feel physically and psychologically uncomfortable. Meditation isn’t for sissies.

These are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

  1. Watch TV shows and movies that elicit emotional responses and learn to view them objectively. Part of the reason TV and movies are so attractive is due to their ability to alter your emotions. That’s what these media are designed to do.
    • This is another great way to practice being stoic. Watch, but constantly remind yourself that it’s only a movie. Try to keep your emotional responses subdued.
  2. Observe your thoughts and emotions with curiosity. Once we feel an emotion, our tendency is to focus on it and take an emotional ride. Instead of magnifying your emotions, study them like a scientist would. Notice how your thoughts change when your emotions change.
  3. Be practical. What’s really happening? Be logical and objective. For example, if your pool pump goes down, then you either need a new pump or the current one needs to be fixed. That’s it. All of your emotional gyrations have zero effect on the situation. They only make you less capable and miserable.
  4. Realize that nothing is permanent. The stock market, weather, good times, or bad times – none of them last. It only makes sense to avoid big emotional swings.
    • Enjoy and be grateful for positive experiences, knowing that life cannot always be just like this. When you encounter troubled times, keep in mind that these, too, will pass on and make way for good times again.
  5. Understand how little control you have over the world. Aside from your decisions and direct actions, there’s not much you can do to change what’s going on around you. Other people are nearly impossible to control in any meaningful way. If it’s going to rain, it’s going to rain. Why get emotional if it doesn’t help?

Negative and positive experiences and emotions can both be disadvantageous. When people win, they tend to celebrate. Clinging too tightly to past wins can inhibit further growth and success. It’s hard to move forward when you’re stuck in the past.

Negative experiences can suck the life and motivation out of people. They can also inhibit progress. With a neutral mind, neither positive nor negative experiences have a great impact on you. Each day is another day to make progress and move forward.

Having a neutral mind isn’t about approaching life like a robot, completely devoid of emotion. It’s about tempering your emotional responses and learning to be emotionally okay with any outcome.

This is an effective way to continue to make progress in life. You’re not thrown off by either positive or negative experiences. You go with the flow, but you avoid a flood, and you’re able to keep going and moving toward your goals.

7 Ways You Can Suffer if Your Life is Out of Balance

balance

It’s very challenging to achieve balance in life. Some believe it’s impossible to have a balanced life if you’re committed to succeeding at the highest level. Maybe that’s true, but most people don’t need to become a billionaire or a movie star to consider themselves successful.

Success and a balanced life can coexist. However, you can’t afford to waste any of your time.

A life that’s out of balance includes some degree of suffering:

  1. When your life is out of whack, you can spend too much money. If you’re working hard day after day, it’s common to think that you deserve to enjoy your life, so you whip out your wallet. Unfortunately, it’s easy to outspend your income. The pleasure you get from spending money also doesn’t last for long.
    • On the other end of the spectrum, if you’re not paying enough attention to work, your income is likely lower than it could be.
    • Putting too much or too little attention on work can have negative financial implications.
  2. If your life is out of balance, you’re likely to exercise too little, eat poorly, and suffer from excessive amounts of stress. You can also suffer from insomnia. Your health is one of the first things to go downhill when your life is out of balance.
  3. Your relationship with your friends and family can suffer. One of the other casualties of an out-of-balance lifestyle is your relationship with other people. Whether it’s your spouse, partner, children, friends, or other family members, your relationships can suffer.
    • Consider the consequences of damaging your relationship with your spouse and children. Are the other things you’re spending time on worth it?
  4. You don’t have time for the things you enjoy. Do you love to watch football? Go out with the ladies for dinner on Thursdays? Whittle totem poles in the garage? An out of balance life lacks the time necessary to enjoy your hobbies and other enjoyable activities.
  5. Your mood suffers. Are you cranky, intolerant, angry, or feeling hopeless? Your life might be out of balance. People with an out of balance life often resent the time that people and unrelated activities require.
    • It’s not easy to feel good when your life is out of whack. A consistent bad mood is a terrible burden to carry, for you and everyone around you. Everyone suffers when a family member is miserable.
  6. You lose the ability to focus. A lack of sleep, horrible diet, no exercise, and no social life can tear down your ability to focus your attention productively. As your mind and body wear down, you can’t stay on task as well.
    • You’re also spending too much brain power focused on other things. If you’re eating dinner with your family, but lost in your thoughts, you’re not focusing on sharing a meal with your family.
  7. You either won’t take or can’t enjoy a vacation. If you can’t, or won’t, make time for a vacation, your life is out of balance. This can be a great test to determine if your life is under control. Do you think your life is unbalanced? Plan a vacation and see what happens!

Is your life out of balance? What changes can you make in order to bring it back into balance? It can be a real challenge to maintain balance in your life, but the consequences of failing to be balanced can be severe.

Remember how important your health, relationships, and happiness are to you. Where would you be without them?

Take action today to bring your life back into balance! You’ll be so glad you did!
