Creating Your Ideal Self

ideal life

What would it take for you to start living your ideal life? It doesn’t have to difficult to achieve.

Here are some steps you can follow and start living your dream lifestyle.

Where do you want to go?

What do you see as your ideal life? What goals do you have? You need to know where you are going so you can define your ideal life. When you know what you want, you will be able to create your ideal life.

Define the person who can quickly reach your goals.

When you know what type of life you want, you need to start thinking about the type of person who can make this life happen.

  • What do you need to do to go from your present state to where you want to be quickly?
  • What would this person be like?

If you would like to listen to these types of articles, you can visit my podcasts at

podcastThese are short, usually under 5 minutes but they can enable you to listen to confidence and motivation advice and tips while driving or relaxing.

What are the habits of your ideal self?

You need to consider many different things and areas. Here are some suggestions.

  • How often does this person brush their teeth? Does he floss after every brushing? When does he floss?
  • When does he go to bed and when does he get up? Does he read when in bed? What types of material does he read? Does he read regularly at other times during the day?
  • Describe his morning routine.
  • Does he work out and for how long and how often? What is his workout routine? What is his weight and what does he eat?
  • Does he journal daily?
  • When waiting in traffic, what does he think about?

What are the traits of your ideal self?

There is more to a person than just their habits. Here are some traits you should consider.

  • What does your ideal self wear, drive, their hairstyle?
  • What attitudes does he hold towards dating? Would he easily approach an attractive stranger? Would he only date one person or many at a time?
  • Is he calculating, bold or cautious?
  • Is he a giving, selfish or practical person?
  • What about spiritual or religious feelings?
  • What values and beliefs does he hold?
  • Does he have specific skills?

You can ask about anything at all. Think that you are creating a movie character.

Use the SWISH technique

This NLP technique is powerful for encouraging you to start behaving like your ideal self.

  • Create a clear visual of your ideal self. Include all of the habits, characteristics and the qualities the ideal should have. There should be no background for this image, only a blank screen with your ideal self image standing in front of the screen looking out at you.

When you are not behaving like your ideal self, quickly bring up the ideal self image and start to immediately behave as the image would.

Start

From the characteristics and habits that you have listed, pick a couple of the easier ones and start to include them into your life. After they have been incorporated, pick a couple more from the list and repeat until the list has been exhausted.

Find Supporting Evidence

Draw attention to yourself and your actions when you are behaving like your ideal person.

Journal

A journal helps you to keep track of how you are progressing. You also get into the habit of focusing on those parts of your life that are important. You will stay motivated when you are aware of how far you have progressed.

11 Ways to Live in the Moment

It’s impossible to enjoy life at the highest level without being fully aware of the present moment. Life can only be lived in the present. Often our minds are preoccupied with multiple things, none of which is occurring right now.

Our minds are very active and constantly attempting to break free to occupy themselves with the past, the future, and pure fantasy. While it’s good to prepare for the future and learn from the past, focusing primarily on the present has many benefits.

Try these ways to live in the moment and be present with your life:

  1. Avoid worry. Worrying can only happen when you look to the future. Keep your thoughts on your environment and your current activity. You can’t worry if you leave the future alone.

  2. Avoid regret. Regret arrives while thinking about the past. The past is over and no longer exists. You bring your past mistakes to life by thinking about them. Let them go.

  3. Turn off electronic devices. Cell phones, computers, iPods, and gaming systems distract from the present moment. Find your enjoyment in your life rather than in an imaginary world or in frivolous communication.
  4. Avoid multitasking. Try doing one task at a time. Current research is overwhelmingly in favour of single-tasking. You’ll find you perform the task faster and at a higher level. Let multitasking be a thing of the past. Single-tasking is much more conducive to living in the present.

  5. Eliminate unnecessary items. Having too many possessions is more of a burden than an advantage. Owning too many things results in disorder that clutters both your physical environment and your mind. If you don’t need it, consider giving it away or selling it.

  6. When you hold a grudge, the only one suffering is you! Anger is distracting and keeps you from enjoying the current moment.

  7. Go slowly and deliberately. Rushing creates a unique type of anxiety. Give yourself the time you need to enjoy the current activity. Address one task at a time and give it your full attention.

  8. If someone is speaking to you, give them your full attention and participate in the conversation to the best of your ability.
  9. Spend 5 minutes of each hour describing your environment. Take 5 minutes and describe to yourself everything you see, hear, smell, and feel. It’s an easy way to bring your mind back to the present moment and keep it there. There’s no way to compete the exercise without being mindful.

  10. Eat slowly and enjoy your food. By eating slower, you’ll have the chance to enjoy your food more. You’ll also eat less, which is a good thing for many of us. Try eating an entire orange one piece at a time. Go slowly and focus on the flavor of each section.

  11. Under schedule. Too many obligations results in a crowded schedule and time concerns. It’s not easy to stay focused on the current task if you’re worried about being on time for the next one. Leave space between your obligations. Do less and experience more.

Avoid missing out on your life and losing so much time to the past and the future. Living in the moment is a habit and a skill. Indulging in worry and regret are also habits. While it’s not possible to live entirely in the moment, life is more enjoyable and meaningful when your focus is on the present.

12 Signs That You’re Doing Better Than You Think

better days

It’s not unusual for a person to think they’re doing worse than they actually are. Some of us are just pessimistic. Progress can also be hard to see sometimes unless you’re looking in the right places for it.

If you feel like you’re working hard with little to show for it, you’re probably mistaken. It’s likely that you’re doing a lot better than you think!

Consider these positive signs:

  1. You learn the lesson that each mistake and failure provide. If you can learn something from every failure and mistake, it won’t take long before you’re incredibly successful.
    • Most people repeat their errors over and over, whether it’s overspending or choosing a partner. People have a strong tendency to repeat their behaviours. But you can choose to act differently than you did the last time you were in a similar situation!
  2. You’re clear on what you want. This can be half the battle. You have a huge advantage over the competition if you know what you want. Most people are aimlessly floating through life.
  3. You spend your time wisely. Spend your time well and good things happen. Spend your time poorly and your life will be a train wreck.
    • When deciding what you’re going to do next, ask yourself what the best use of your time would be. Then, do it.
  4. You’re making regular progress. Consistent progress is a great sign. Even if you feel like you’re lightyears from your goal, all you need is regular progress. Many people have been dieting for years and haven’t lost a single pound. Even a pound of weight loss each month is meaningful over a period of time.
  5. You’re consistent in your efforts. Successful people put in some work on a daily basis. Success isn’t about working really hard for a day here and there.
    • Being consistent in your efforts also means that you’re sticking to your goals. Working for a week on one goal and then changing your mind and working on something else is a path to nowhere.
  6. You’re not alone. There are people that are alone in the world. If you’re not alone, you’re doing better than many others.
  7. You’re optimistic. When you’re optimistic, there’s hope. When you’re optimistic, you’ll take action.
    • Conversely, when your expectations are low, you quickly become stuck, because you believe your efforts will be a waste of time.
  8. You’re determined. Commitment is a great sign that you’re going places. Good things happen when you’re determined.
  9. You’re not worried about the opinions of others. If you care too much about what others think, you’ll prefer to play it safe, and you won’t do anything significant. You can leave them and their opinions in the dust behind you!
  10. You have a dry, warm place to sleep. If you’ve ever had to go without this, you know how nice this is. If you don’t have to deal with this situation, then you’re doing better than you think.
  11. You have a job. A steady income is a great thing. Many people either can’t find work or are unable to maintain employment. Even if you’re earning less than you’d like, it’s a lot better than earning nothing at all.
  12. You’re healthy. If you’re basically healthy, you have a huge leg up on a lot of people. Good health is a huge blessing.

Our society is easy in many ways and quite challenging in others. A high priority is placed on success, but there are other things that are also important. Friends, a warm bed, and a job are pretty relevant, too.

If you’re clear on what you’re trying to accomplish, and you’re spending your time wisely, you’re doing quite well. This is true even if the results haven’t revealed themselves yet. Have faith!

Most people are actually doing quite well in their lives but we are surrounded by so many negative things. people and news that we don’t see the positives in the world and in ourselves.

If you can start to put some of the advice in this article into practice, you will be surprised at how well you really are doing in your life.

How to Live Consciously

Living Consciously

Today is a perfect day ...Have you ever seen ants marching in search of food? They just follow one another in an almost endless game that seems to drone on and on. Does your life feel like an ant’s life – as if you’re going from day to day, doing the same thing, the same way, and nothing ever changes?

If so, then there’s a very good probability you’re not living consciously.

Conscious living is being aware of your life and the things you’re doing. It’s about taking the time to stop and smell the roses so you can see where you fit into the whole picture. Living consciously is a vital component in enjoying the fleeting moments we have on Earth.

It’s important to take note of what’s going on around us and be aware of what we’re doing. Living consciously brings us an understanding of what we’re capable of doing and paves the way for us to get where we want to go.

Benefits of Conscious Living

Perhaps you’re wondering, “What’s in it for me?” Conscious living brings with it many benefits, which you may already be seeking in your life.

Here are just a few of these benefits:

1. Relieve stress. Conscious living can be a great stress reliever. Not only does it make life more enjoyable when you alleviate your stress, but it also makes you healthier. Stress affects every process in our bodies and can cause serious disease if it builds up within us.

2. Expand your horizons. As you become more aware of your surroundings, you’ll find that you can better understand the world and your place in it.

3. Live in the moment. Throughout the day, you’ll be more focused on your work because you’re consciously acting on a specific task in the moment.

4. Enjoy more passion in your relationships. While living consciously, your relationships will become more meaningful because you’ll be appreciative of them as well as the other person. You’ll be more in tune with your partner and aware of every want and need.

5. Know your importance. Your job will become more fulfilling because you’re more conscious of your role in the grand scheme of things. You no longer just answer a phone or hand someone a photocopy, but you are consciously making a difference.

6. Bring color into your world. Your surroundings will become more vibrant because you’ll notice things like the subtle differences between the shades of the trees and the direction of the soft breeze.

7. Being conscious of life makes life more fun. When you’re living consciously, bad days are few and far between.

Action Steps to Living Consciously

Luckily, transforming your humdrum life into one filled with vibrant joy is easier than you may think! You can make some simple adjustments to your everyday routines to live consciously and more fully enjoy your life.

Here are some action steps you can take to bring conscious living to your life:

1. Stop. Take some time to stop throughout the day and look around. Be aware of where you are and what’s around you. Become conscious of your surroundings and notice how you fit into them.

* Notice the details such as the green on the trees, or the condensation dripping down the side of the cup.
* Become in tune with what your body feels and actually search out the sensations of your fingers and toes while feeling your chest rise and fall with each breath.

2. Breathe. Take deep breaths and be in the moment. Don’t think about what you’ve done or what you still have to do, just take a minute or two to just breathe!

3. Learn. Take a few minutes each day to try something new. Pick up a book you’ve wanted to read or learn a new skill. By doing this, you’re starting to become conscious of your life and the things you can do with it.

There are many things you can do to live life to its fullest. Living consciously is one of the easiest changes to make on a day-to-day basis. Take a few of these ideas, integrate them into your routine, and begin enjoying the benefits of living consciously!
